The active compounds in cranberry are proanthocyanidins (PACs), and only the soluble A-type form blocks bacteria from sticking to the bladder wall. UTI Biome Shield delivers 38mg of DMAC-verified A-type PACs, above the 36mg studied for anti-adhesion. Most cranberry pills use whole-fruit powder with only a fraction of the active PACs.

Most cranberry supplements are made from whole-fruit or juice powder, which delivers only a small amount of usable PACs. A 500mg capsule of fruit powder can contain just a few milligrams, well below the amount studied for anti-adhesion. Because PAC content is also hard to verify, ours is DMAC-tested, the standardized method that specifically measures A-type PACs, so the dose on the label is the dose in the capsule. Two products listing the same milligrams of cranberry can deliver very different amounts of what actually works.
